norma johnston : In any case, I think the fate of the bulls was a lot better than the buffalo, which was almost exterminated in America, so we could have trains. President Teddy Roosevelt with all due respect, loved to hunt the buffalo for sport! Then he and others would leave them ther to rot! As I have read this was also an animal that was a main food source for the American Indians!
norma johnston : If a bull could have been domesticated, it would have evolved into little bulls that you could keep as pets like dogs and cats! Considering that a bull is an herbivore,he will kill anyone, not for food, but only because you happen to be in front of him! Bulls also kill each other and sometimes themselves when they hit something hard like a tree. They know what they've got and they know what they're for! In order to bring them down for branding, they have to use a 10ft pole! Which is where the saying " l would't touch it with a 10ft pole comes from!
norma johnston : Where the saying" I would'nt touch it with a 10ft pole" comes from.I don't know how bullfighting got started, but I've heard it was somehow originated with the gypsies.Maybe at one time there were a lot of bulls, and they were killing people so they decided to hunt and kill them.Considering the ferousity of the animal,it became a great skill and a spectacal!
